Why Teddy Bridgewater, Chris Godwin and Nick Chubb are smart smart Week 5 DFS plays.

“Time that you enjoy wasting was not wasted.” – John Lennon.

The first quarter of the NFL season is already under wraps. So let’s keep the momentum going, as we have lots right now.

Before you read my selections, I have an extra ‘Pick-Six’ for you, as this weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada. So here are my six must-haves for the big dinner:

1) Turkey – The Tom Brady of the meal. The obvious choice goes number one overall.

2) Mashed Potatoes – The offensive line of the meal, so versatile and a must-have. It creates a barrier for anything on your plate. You can pour gravy on it, mix in your peas, carrots, really anything, dealers choice here.

3) Stuffing – The Eli Manning of the meal. I’m convinced nobody eats stuffing on any day other than Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Yet, when it comes to the one day you need it to show up, it never lets you down and delivers a big win – both times.

4) Rolls – The defensive line of the meal. When you finish gorging, and the bottom of your plate is a slop fest, the roll comes in and swoops up the mess. When that conglomerate of gravy mixed with sides gets swept up, it is the perfect way to prepare for the following item on the list.

5) Pumpkin Pie – The Mike Alstott of the meal. You make room for dessert and find a way to smash this in. Before you undo your belt buckle or put on your sweatpants, this is the finale. Arguably this pick should be apple pie, but this isn’t American thanksgiving; it’s Canadian.

6) Cranberry Sauce – The kick returner of the meal. Whether you want it there or not, it’s a must-have. Corn, carrots, peas, green beans, brussel sprouts, and many other sides deserve an honorable mention, but the table doesn’t look complete without that bowl of red sauce.

Now let’s have a look at last week’s picks:

1) Kyler Murray QB, ARI $7,600 – 3.1% ownership, putting up 23.88 fantasy points. 3.1 is also the times’ value we got from his salary; this was a solid choice.

2) Damien Harris RB, NE $5,300 – With whopping low ownership of 1.1%, we got 15.40 fantasy points out of a cheap option. For cash games, this was perfect.

3) Rashad Penny RB, SEA $4,900 – I will soak this one up as long as possible. 13.9% ownership and a hot finish of 31.70 fantasy points. This pick alone could have carried you to money. Remember, the goal is to find four times the value out of a player; we got 6.5 times out of Penny.

4) Diontae Johnson WR, LV $6,000 – Ouff, I described Johnson as being at a fair and trying to win a tuddy bear. Well, the games are rigged, and 9.8% of us spent $6,000 to get 4.20 fantasy points.

5) Robert Tonyan TE, GB $3,500 – Another pick that worked out very well at an inexpensive price tag. 6.4% ownership and 10.20 fantasy points.

6) Giants DST, NYG $3,100 – Yet another hot pick. 16.00 fantasy points and only 6.3% ownership. 5.2 times the value found here.

Here are this week’s selections:

1) Teddy Bridgewater QB, MIA $5,400 – The Jets have forced their opponents to score this season. Teddy is surrounded by solid coaching and a lot of raw talent boosted with speed. The price isn’t just what makes Teddy an intriguing play. It was the ability to come in on a nationally televised game, put up just shy of 200 yards, scrambled for 11 yards, and threw a TD after Tua was knocked out of the game. There are many solid WR plays this week, and I want to save at QB to afford them.

2) Nick Chubb RB, CLE $8,000 – “You ever seen a Lamborghini commercial?” – Nick Chubb. What more can I say than Chubb’s excellent quote in response to his lack of social media? All I can do is show you the proof in his numbers. The price tag attached feels like the first time you buy a named brand purse for your significant other. You can’t believe how expensive it is, but the quality is astounding. The Chargers have the 3rd worst pressure rate in the NFL right now and give up the 4th most fantasy points to RBs. 29.4 of Chubb’s fantasy points have been earned inside the red zone.

3) Chris Godwin WR, TB $5,900 – Revenge body Tom Brady is ready to explode on a team. Why not pair him with the Falcon killer himself, Mr. Godwin? He averages 85 yards and one TD per game against the dirty birds. 13-15% ownership is where I am at right now, but I am willing to chance it. I don’t expect Godwin to be this cheap for the rest of the season; take advantage of his injury-based price tag.

4) Tyler Allgeier RB, ATL $4,700 – Rashad Penny from a week ago. It’s tough not to allow you to overlook this play. I expect revenge body Tom Brady will have over 20% ownership this weekend. If you want to have a bring-back piece, this is it. Kyle Pitts is injured, and he was my TE for the week initially. For this price tag, you should be getting an RB that is barely a backup. Instead, we are getting a full-blown starter that will see 15+ touches. Last week he averaged 8.4 yards a rush. Tampa will shut that down, but even if you half that, 15 touches at 4.1 yards per attempt is 63 rush yards. This is with no receptions or TDs. I am all in on this piece for an excellent flex play this weekend.

5) Zach Ertz TE, ARI $4,800 – No TE has been targeted more in the red zone than Ertz. Even better about this stat is that it includes targets within the 20, 10, and 5-yard line. When the Cardinals get close to scoring, Murray looks for 86, and so should you this weekend.

6) Patriots DST, NE $2,900 – The Pat Patriot uniforms are being donned at home vs. the Detroit Lions. I know you are thinking, “Ryan, the Lions are the hottest-scoring team in the NFL right now”! Now that we are laughing, the Patriots were like Rocky this past weekend. They went the distance with the Packers and barely lost. This feels like a coaching miss match, and the Pats allow the 5th least amount of fantasy points to RBs. With this DST stack, you can play Damien Harris or Rhamondre Stevenson as a bonus pick.
